WELCOME TO THE SCHOOL OF THE FUTURE
REFLECTION

Practice teaching is the immersion into the real world of school that prepares the student in making the transition from trainee to professional. The real essence of being a teacher made me realized as I enter the field of practice teaching. As what saying goes, “Experience is the best teacher.” I remember the first day of off-campus teaching, mix emotions filled my heart as I entered School of the Future considering my first impression in this school when I knew that I was assigned here like having an intelligent students, ill-tempered teachers and a strict principal. But I realized that all these impressions were wrong. I felt the overwhelming welcome to us, having a very approachable and kind teachers and principal. A simple greetings from students like “good morning teacher!” gave me the feeling of being a real teacher. I can also recall what my students said to me at the first day of off-campus, “Teacher Sab, gusto na po kitang maging teacher.” That simple message and treatment touched my heart and motivated me to be a better one and by not disappointing them.
But being in the field, as a student teacher, hence, as a teacher by my students never been an easy task. Those sleepless nights just to make lesson plans and instructional materials, teaching until your voice is about to give up, managing a numerous pupils with different personalities are some of struggles I encountered in my off-campus teaching. With the helped of my cooperating teachers, it improved my competences in teaching by giving me suggestions, comments, advices and recommendations. As the time passed by, I already learned how to embrace the craft and realized that teaching is not a task for a teacher to do but it is an obligation that uses not only mind but also a heart.
