REFLECTION

Educ. 15 (Off-Campus teaching) provides prospective teachers an experience in actual teaching from the assigned and identified cooperating school. Student teachers are given the opportunity to apply all the knowledge and skills learned from the four corners room of CBSUA to the outside school with different kind and levels of cooperating teachers and pupils.
It was November 24, 2014 when we first visited the cooperating school where we assigned. We went straight to the office of the principal as we arrived in the school. I really felt, nervous, ashamed, and quite insecure that time since it’s my first time to enter that school, and besides I am really not familiar with the people and place there. At the same time, I felt excited too because I will be meeting different pupils, parents and teachers. After having a short meeting with the principal, we we’re introduced to those who will be our cooperating teacher.
We have two shifting. Five weeks for each shift. Every first week of the shift is for my observation and the remained weeks are devoted for my teaching. My 1st shift is in Grade II and the second shift is in Grade V.
At first, I really find it difficult because I don’t know yet the pupils very well and I’m still under the adjustment for new environment where I am teaching. But, as time goes, I find myself happy and enjoying for what I am doing in the school as a studentt teacher.
I really enjoyed my experiences during my off-campus teaching. The sleepless nights, many books, lesson planning, drawing/visual aids preparations, the laughter’s and happy moments together with pupils, I will never forget. I also remembered the first time that I’ve encountered my first cooperating teacher. I really felt nervous that time especially when I introduced myself with the pupils. I also felt sad that time as I seen the face of my CT regretting of having a student teacher. That’s why I really told myself that I should prove to her that having a student teacher is really a great help and I could say that I succeeded with it the moment that I’ve seen her great smile of having me as her student teacher. I will really cherish for the rest of my life being a full time teacher at School of the Future.
For almost two and a half months of practice teaching at School of the Future, I learned a lot from the experiences I had as a teacher, a facilitator and friend to 3 classes, Grade II-Lapulapu, Grade II-Jacinto and in Grade V-Bonifacio. I realize that I have different roles to play, not just as a teacher in the pupils. I also gained confidence in facing the pupils and socializing with parents and other people in the community-School.
It is really important that as a teacher, the virtue of patience should always be applied. It is also true that teaching or educating individuals is really a mission as a teacher. After the off-campus teaching, I realized that I really want to teach the young ones.
