WELCOME TO THE SCHOOL OF THE FUTURE
REFLECTION

When I first thought about off-campus teaching, I went through many emotions. It started with excitement because that meant I was that much closer to graduating. I had so many questions running through my mind. What will my teachers be like? Will be my students participate and cooperate with me? Will they treat me well? And many more. With all these questions, I started to feel intimidated by what will happen next. Especially when I found out that I was already assigned at School of the Future. I really felt nervous back then because there are feedbacks that I have heard that the students in SOF are very intelligent. And the principal is very strict. I was terrified back then that my students would not understand me. I was also worried that my teachers and I would not get along.
When the time came for us to begin our off campus teaching, all I could do was hope and pray that things went smoothly. On my first shifting is Grade V-Bonifacio composed of 45 pupils. They're numerous among the rest sections. I found it hard to discipline and control the behavior of a child especially when they are so many and much bigger than you. That is the difficulty that I had encountered in the intermediate class. But then again, they are so lovable and thoughtful. I enjoy teaching in grade 5 because they are very energetic, active and smart in every discussion. Second week of January, I conducted my first demo teaching in grade 5, and for me all the things are just started from that day. I started to make myself comfortable moving/staying at SOF. I already adjusted myself with the daily routine. I am more comfortable in communicating with my pupils. My cooperating teacher is very kind and supportive throughout. My first shift went well, I didn't encountered such a big problems and issues. Big thanks to my pupils and my Ct.
My second shift was in grade 3-Mabini. At first, I was so nervous not because of my pupils but because of my CT. My first impression to her is she's very strict and snobbish but I was wrong, teacher Teran is one of a very kind, approachable and thoughtful teacher that I have ever known. She always shares her experiences and gave me an advice and tips of becoming a professional teacher. As well as with my pupils, they are very smart, active, participative, and attentive in every discussion. I am very excited to teach in grade 3 because of their performance I really enjoyed every moment when I am conducting a demo teaching in grade 3 especially when I can see that they are learning from me. That's the thing that makes every single day complete.
It is almost perfect, my off campus teaching is near to be perfect. But that day came, February 23,2017, the final demonstration day. Indeed, that God will not give the perfect shot. We commit our mistake by making our own holiday just to prepare our final demo. When we go to the principal's office, I felt that she's mad and it is because of our own holiday that she doesn't know. We feel so depressed that time because of our own doing but I didn't let it affect my performance I just set aside that feeling and just set my mind in my demo teaching that I need to do and finish it. And though it is not perfect I made it. I am thankful I survived. And at the end of the day we thanked so much the principal, teacher Fae, we learned a lot from her she's a very good critic teacher, she share her knowledge to us. Still, we ask her forgiveness and she said that she understand and realize also her mistake. Thanks to our CT's, they serve as our energy booster, they said that it happened for a reason. I feel great because that thing happened, why? Because I've learn from my mistake. Because of that experience I've learned a lot, and it gave me a chance to change that attitude that can affect the learning of the pupils.
Teaching is unlike any other profession. Teachers are constantly learning how to improve on their skills. For every student you encounter, you will learn something from them. Whether it is a new teaching strategy of a life lesson, you never stop learning.
