WELCOME TO THE SCHOOL OF THE FUTURE
REFLECTION

Everything starts with a practice. It is said that if you want to learn something, you must first try to do it by your own and if you learn how to do it, then you will learn to love it and make it as your habit.

When I was in my elementary grade, I told myself that I want to be a teacher someday. I want to be like my elementary teachers who encouraged us to learn more and taught us to value the things and persons around us, as well as who instilled to us the values which make us as the best of ourselves. But now, as I grow up, I realized that being a teacher is not that easy, that it is much different from what I thought few years ago. Being a teacher means having more responsibilities and it takes a lot of time to be a good and to be an effective one.
As we are about to deploy, I was very nervous of what might happen because I am not ready enough to face the real battle in the four-corner of the classroom. But at some point, I am happy and excited for I am going to apply and share now my learning as a practice teacher.

During my practice teaching, I have learned a lot especially on how to handle pupils who are misbehaving and who are not listening while I am delivering my lesson. I experienced that kind of situation during my first demonstration in my grade one class. As a teacher, you need to make some actions that will address their behaviour. You need to catch their attention by making some gestures that will make them alive. Even letting the children sing a song and let them dance would be a great help for them to enjoy and learn something in the discussion. As I practice being a teacher, I also realized that as a teacher, sometimes you need to act like a friend of them, in that way pupils will feel comfortable being with you. As their friend, I have a good memories with them like getting along with them, chatting with them, giving them advices, taking photographs, doing some funny stuff, sharing laughter and knowing that they learned something from me is what really matter. Those are some of the happy moments that happened.

All in all, my almost three months of being a practice teacher taught me and helped me to become who I really want to be someday. We all know that first time experience is the hardest, but it is the most precious experience ever. I am very blessed and thankful that I surpass the practicum and now. I am almost prepared to the real battle of my chosen profession.
